Creamy tomato-based curry with soft paneer cubes — the all-time favourite of Indian restaurants worldwide.
Ingredients
- 400g paneer, cubed
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp oil
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 3 tbsp fresh cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander for garnish
Method
- Heat butter and oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add onions and sauté until golden brown, about 8 minutes.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add all dry spices and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in tomato puree and cook until oil separates, about 10 minutes.
- Add 1/2 cup water and bring to a simmer.
- Add paneer cubes and mix gently.
- Stir in cream and cook for 3 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander and serve hot with naan or rice.
