Crispy gram flour fritters with onion, spinach or potato — the perfect monsoon-season snack with chai.
Ingredients
- 1 cup besan (chickpea flour)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup spinach leaves
- 2 potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- 1 tsp ajwain
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- Water to make batter
Method
- Mix besan with all spices, chillies and salt.
- Add water to make a thick batter.
- Coat vegetables in batter.
- Heat oil to medium-high.
- Drop spoonfuls into oil and fry until golden and crisp.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with green chutney and hot chai.
