Tangy rice coated in a robust tamarind-chilli paste tempered with peanuts and mustard seeds.

Method

  1. Extract thick tamarind juice in 1/2 cup water.
  2. Heat oil, fry peanuts until golden. Remove.
  3. In same oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal and curry leaves.
  4. Add dried chillies and turmeric.
  5. Pour tamarind juice and cook until thick paste forms.
  6. Add cooked rice and mix gently.
  7. Add salt and roasted peanuts. Mix well and serve.
